Wonderfully Made

Sweet For The Soul Devotional – Wonderfully Made

Yesterday, I went looking for a recent photo of myself. I wasn’t expecting anything profound—just a glimpse of a moment. But what I saw stopped me. My smile was there, but behind it… pain. My eyes told a story I hadn’t wanted to read. I noticed the weight I’d gained—not drastic, but enough to stir up old feelings.

First came anger. How did I let myself go?
Then shame. Everyone must see it too.
Then defensiveness. I’ve been trying to lose the weight. I really have.

And then came the morning – I’ve been working on a new biscuit recipe—smaller batches, simpler process. I whipped up a batch, hoping for something beautiful. But when I pulled them from the oven, they looked… rough. Ragged. Not the kind of biscuit you’d want to showcase. I stared at them and thought, How am I supposed to sell these?

That’s when God gently stepped in.
He reminded me of this truth: “I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.” — Psalms 139:14

I broke open one of those imperfect biscuits. The inside was soft, fluffy, warm. I spread a little butter, drizzled a touch of honey—and it tasted like the perfect biscuit.

There’s a saying: “When life gives you lemons, make lemonade.”, sometimes life gets messy and painful and still, God shows up. Because it’s not about how things look on the outside—it’s about the goodness within.

So if you’re feeling like a mess today, remember:
God made you wonderful.
You are loved.
You are seen.
You are not defined by the rough edges.

And if you’re not sure that you’ll be in heaven one day, I’d love to talk with you. [Click here] or reach out—I’d be honored to show you how you can know for sure.

Cake is built in layers — each one carefully prepared, stacked, and held together with something sweet. Life, too, comes in layers: joy, sorrow, waiting, breakthrough.
