About Us

Christie Treats, is currently a cottage bakery operated under Florida’s Cottage Food Law. We feature sweet and savory desserts and breads made fresh to order. We only use quality ingredients and specialize in vegan, dairy free, and gluten free products.

My name is Christina Vandegrift, I grew up in Detroit, Michigan, and have always had a love for baking, I baked my first cake at the age of 9 and the love never stopped. In high school I took a commercial foods class, which really got me interested in cooking, and in 1984 I got my first job as a dishwasher, where I quickly became a food prep. That was when I knew I wanted to one day own my own restaurant and could really enjoy it too.

In 1994, I moved to Central Florida, where I worked in a deli preparing sandwiches, and in 2000, had my own small catering business during the Christmas season. After some difficulties I realized that the catering and restaurant business was not for me, so, I gave it up, and returned to work in the retail industry.

I still loved cooking and baking for people, my enjoyment has always been watching people eat and enjoy the food that I created. In 2005, I dedicated my life to my Lord Jesus Christ and began serving Him in and out of church, where I began baking, and cooking meals for church socials, which sparked my interest in the food service industry all over again.

I have always had this knack for looking at the ingredients of a recipe and recreating it into something unique and very tasty. Over the years I have entered several of my desserts in bake-offs and won Grand prize with my Chocolate Ganache Cherry Cheesecake, Trinity Chocolate Cheesecake, and Triple Chocolate Cream Pie.

In 2011, I found out that I was gluten and lactose intolerant, which has given me the opportunity to experiment with wholesome foods, instead of prepackaged and processed foods, and there is nothing better than good old fashioned home cooking anyway.

In 2012, I came up with the idea to create wholesome, tasty, gluten free cakes, thus coming up with the idea of selling pastries, something I know that anyone can enjoy and not even know they are gluten free. I began taking some cake decorating classes, and what started out as just a way of making my cakes look better, flourished into a full service home bakery, with my sugar free layered cakes being my biggest request.

In 2023, I married the love of my life and that passion for doing what I love returned and Lord willing I will have my very own dessert café food truck ministry. Having a food truck will enable me to take my pastries anywhere and while providing them with the sweet taste of the Gospel of Christ to patrons.
